Weekly Update - 10/10
October 10, 2022
This week we will be doing our third and final formal testing week of the year. This means that it is the last week we’ll dedicate, more or less, to testing before we get to the winter season. This doesn’t mean that we won’t do any more time trials — in fact, we’ll do lots more! But this is the last week where we’ll try and get all the dryland time trials (strength test, 3k test, and DP test) out of the way in one go. This week we’ll be adding one more fun one to the mix — the Scarecrow 5k running race on Sunday. This will be a great way to practice a “real” race environment at the end of a hard week, and to practice doing back-to-back races on Saturday and Sunday — something we’ll be doing a lot of once winter rolls around.
Training Plan
Is available in the members section. PLEASE sign up for tests you plan to attend — this will save you time (aka less standing around) at the actual test, so it’s really in everyone’s best interest!! One thing to keep in mind about time trials and testing is that it’s a way of measuring results from the work that you’ve done so far this year, and is one way to look at how your progress goals for the year are going. For example, if you set a process goal this year of “improving running speed,” you might have set a progress goal of “improving 3000m test time by 30 seconds.” So, this week is a good time to go back and check what your goals for the year were, so that you can keep those in mind during testing. If you haven’t set any goals for the year yet, maybe this is a good time to set some!
Strength Training
Here’s a quick survey about strength training, that it’d be great if you could fill out! https://forms.gle/G5YzCVFkRrxEUgRcA.
Scarecrow 5k
We’ll do this race on Sunday to get another shot at practicing our race-day warm up and race-day process! You can sign up for the race here: https://scarecrowclassic5k.com/register/.
